Andy Lee White: News and Stuff
Book and CD - October 10, 2008
ANDY LEE WHITE continues to write his book about the real life challenge of dealing with unscrupulous people and a flawed legal system. "The information for the book continues to float to the surface like dead bodies" says ALW. "Around every corner, and hidden behind each event, lurks another secret that gets revealed. It's amazing how people will come out of the wood work just when you need information the most. My hands are tied legally at the moment, as far as revealing to much about the story line, but believe me, it's a real life story that is stranger than fiction, and will surprise everyone that reads it. It's been a roller coaster ride for the last sixteen months that I have been writing the book, but I wouldn't trade a minute of it. If you have faith you know that everything happens for a reason and everyone has to answer to a higher authority in the end. That faith has gotten me to this point and will carry me far beyond. It's true that you reap what you sow, and a lot of people go through life in such a narcissistic manner that they never even notice the seeds that they drop along the way." Several publishers have expressed interest in printing the book and a deal should be worked out in the coming months.
The CD continues to write itself as well. ALW is recording a batch of songs as a companion album to go along with the book. "The music has come as easily as the text for the book. The songs deal with the same issues as the book, mainly, betrayal, deceit, adultery, and the results of such actions. The working title for the album is HESTER'S LETTER. I've been writing constantly and it will be tough to decide which songs will make the final cut. Some of the songs cut straight to the bone while some dance around the villains in the story, letting the listener decide for themselves what the ultimate fate will be for them. I've been talking with a couple of labels about the CD release, but it will still most likely be on my own label, MAGIC HOUSE RECORDS, and just be distributed by another company."
A new and improved web site is in the works as well. Famed graphic artist and web designer, Peter Vercellino,
http://versestudios.net/ has agreed to create a new web site and design the book jacket and CD cover for ALW's book and new album. Peter and ALW have been friends for many years. Vercellino said "I'm looking forward to ANDY LEE WHITE'S new CD. I've already heard some of the tracks and I think he has a cool concept for the book and CD. I am honored that I will be designing not only the book jacket and art work for his CD, but building a new happening web site for him, too."
Writing New Songs (and a book too) - April 25, 2008
ANDY LEE WHITE has been busy writing a batch of new songs and a book too!!! "Life is art" says ALW, "and I have been chronicling the past year in song and book. Truth is stranger that fiction they say, and the past year is proof of that. I'll have a complete album of tunes detailing these most bizarre events and a book that even Oprah will want to read. Every time I think I've seen it all...more unbelievable things happen. I couldn't have made up a more complex story than the way this real story reads. It's full of real life villains and saints. Behind every smiling face lurks a sinister secret and this album and book will be a companion set detailing just how very little we actually know about the people closest to us in life. I'm very excited to be blessed with such a story to tell."
ANDY LEE WHITE'S album with Bob Langford is still on temporary hiatus but will eventually be finished and released. Bob lost his dear wife of over thirty years in January and the boys have agreed to take an extended break from their project. Janice Langford passed away in early January and everyone that knew and loved her will miss her greatly. Our sincere condolences go out to Bob "Tub" Langford and his family. Janice was a great woman and the world will miss her.

ANDY LEE WHITE back in the studio - April 12, 2007
ANDY LEE WHITE was back in the studio this week working on his new album with producer Bob “Tub” Langford. White and Langford have been recording ALW’s second solo album together since May of 2006. “We have been working at a leisurely pace, that’s for sure” said White. “Bob has been producing another artist as well and I have been busy being a father to my 16 month old baby girl (Railey). We do the 475 mile drive to Bob’s studio every couple of months for 3-4 day blocks of recording time. We got in a few days this week and even caught a show that my bass player (Tazz Siacca) was playing in. Tazz is a working musician who plays 3-5 nights per week with several different groups. He has played bass for Little Richard, Eddie Money and many other artists over the years. I feel very lucky to have him as a friend and as my bass player on the album.”
Recording is set to resume in early May with a summer release now projected.

ANDY LEE WHITE .COM WELCOMES ITS 30,000th VISITOR - October 28, 2006
On Thursday October 26, 2006 ANDY LEE WHITE.COM welcomed the 30,000th visitor to the web site. The web site was launched 19 months ago on February 14, 2005 to promote the release of ANDY LEE WHITE’S CD, KUDZU ANIMALS. KUDZU ANIMALS was released on March 6, 2005 by Atlanta based Magic House Records.
Thanks to everyone that has taken the time for a visit or two. We know we’re small time as far as web sites go, but as soon as we hit one out of the park we’ll add some bells and whistles. Maybe even a dancing bear. It’s all directly related to how many CD’s and T shirts you good friends buy :). A new album is in the works so start saving those coins. Till then….keep checking back for new photos and the occasional news item. The closer the new album gets to completion the more we’ll have to tell you about a projected release date. ALW spent a couple of days in the studio this week with producer Bob “Tub” Langford. Bob said that they added the rhythm tracks for a couple of new songs and that one of the new songs was a cover of a song that he (Bob) had worked on many years ago with Joe South. “I really like the Joe South cover” Bob said, “It really works well with the other songs that we have recorded. I think even Joe South would like this version of his song.” ALW has recorded a dozen original songs to go along with the Joe South cover and plans to add a couple more originals to fill out the projected 15 song CD. Work will continue at Bob’s studio in New Port Richey, FL through December and into early January 2007. Keep visiting us here at ANDY LEE WHITE .COM and tell a friend about the little dog and pony show here. We’d love to have all of the guests that you can send!
Recording of the new ANDY LEE WHITE album “half way there” - September 10, 2006
ANDY LEE WHITE says the recording of his new album is “about halfway there.”
“After over 15,000 road miles, we’re halfway there”, WHITE said this week. “Atlanta is 475 miles from New Port Richey and we go as often as possible. We go down for 2-3 day sessions every 3-4 weeks. We actually stay in Palm Harbor and I drive the 9 mile commute to Bob’s (Langford) studio in New Port Richey every day.” WHITE is recording at TUBS MUSIC, a studio owned and operated by producer Bob “Tub” Langford and located in the sunny Florida city of New Port Richey.
Langford is producing the new album for WHITE and has even come out of retirement as a sound engineer to man the sound console as well. “I’ve had enough engineering for one lifetime,” Bob said. “I’m into the producing and publishing end of the business now, but for this project, since LEE was first introduced to my work by hearing the sound engineering that I had done for Joe South and Lynyrd Skynyrd, I agreed to also serve as the engineer. I told him I’d do the engineering for this project but the next time I produce and mix only.”
The recording started in May and will continue until December. ALW has been backed for this album by members of THE TRUNK, a local New Port Richey southern rock band. The band is best known for their searing Allman Brothers Band tribute, but they also play an array of music from Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Deep Purple. Mark Murray is the lead guitarist, Rich Nichols plays drums and Taz Tazooka is all over the bass guitar.
The boys will be touring with the other members of THE TRUNK this fall and they have three Atlanta shows scheduled. On November 30 they will play in Suwannee, GA at the Wild Wing, on December 1 they will play the Wild Wing in Atlanta, and on December 2 they will wrap up their three day Atlanta stint with a show at the Wild Wing in Alpharetta. If you live in the Atlanta area you must see these boys play live! The sound is there and so is the look! You would swear that Mark Murray of THE TRUNK is a younger Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Go see for yourself!
In other news, RAILEY FRANCES WHITE will be 10 months old on September 15. She reads 4 books a day and is taking gymnastics classes at The Little Gym. She recently got her first small person sized guitar. She wrote her first song in a matter of minutes. New photos of RAILEY are posted every few days under the “photos” section on the home page of this site. Keep checking back for news and photos and thanks for visiting today!
ANDY LEE WHITE Recording New Album - June 28, 2006
Andy Lee White announced this week that he is recording a new album with music legend Bob “Tub” Langford producing. White and Langford have been working together since early May and already have the basic rhythm tracks recorded for no less than a dozen new songs. The project is being recorded at Langford’s studio, Tubs Music, in New Port Richey, Florida. ALW has been using a local Allman Brothers tribute band as his backing group on the new tracks. White says this group of songs has a “ pop/rock sound to them with a bit of slide guitar and a bit of my piano”. A fall release is planned with some live dates to follow.
Bob “Tub” Langford is best known as “the guy who engineered and mixed Free Bird”. His work with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Al Kooper on Skynyrd’s first album, "Pronounced Lynyrd Skynyrd", helped define a sound for the group that propelled them into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Bob also engineered and mixed Sweet Home Alabama and Gimme Three Steps, two of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s biggest hits! Prior to that he engineered and mixed all of Joe South’s gold records during South’s heyday at Capitol Records. Games People Play, Walk a Mile in My Shoes, Don’t It Make You Wanna Go Home and Hush, are just some of the tremendously huge hits that Bob Langford engineered and mixed for Joe South. He has also worked with Deep Purple, Jerry Lee Lewis, Billy Joe Royal, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Blood, Sweat and Tears. In the performing arena, Bob once fronted a band that warmed up for the Rolling Stones in 1965 at a Florida concert inside Jack Russell Stadium. The fans rioted four songs into the Stones set and the concert was halted. To say that Bob has been around and touched by greatness in the music industry is an understatement.
ALW said that “working with Bob is the biggest thing I could have ever imagined. When I look through the control room glass and I see Bob sitting behind the board, just like he did for Joe South, Ronnie Van Zant and so many others, I get shivers. I feel totally comfortable working with Bob and I trust his advice. In that sense, this album has been much easier to make than any other that I have made in the past. I really think this is the best work that I have ever done and Bob is as much a part of that as the band and I are.”
Another ANDY LEE WHITE Song featured on Oasis CD Sampler - May 18, 2006
On May 17, 2006 Oasis CD Manufacturing released a two disc CD Sampler titled OASIS COUNTRY - VOL. VI, NUMBER 1. The disc features forty one Country/Alt Country acts and is distributed to programmers and DJs around the world. ANDY LEE WHITE is featured as the third selection on Disc 1 with his song, THREE REASONS. The song is from ALW's CD, KUDZU ANIMALS, which was released in March of 2005 by Magic House Records. Though ALW is not a country act per say, his appearance on this Country CD Sampler flawlessly blends in with today's up tempo country/pop that dominates the airwaves. The song features the guitar work of Scott Patton who, along with ALW, co-produced KUDZU ANIMALS. Scott is currently on tour as the lead guitarist for the hugely successful country act, SUGARLAND. In fact just last week Scott was featured, along with the rest of the SUGARLAND band, in an episode of the hit TV show LAS VEGAS. They were cast as the casino entertainment and were featured prominently in the scenes that they appeared. Scott was there with his steady Fender guitar on his shoulder and his goatee on his chin, right alongside Jennifer Nettles as they rocked the show!
ANDY LEE WHITE had another song from KUDZU ANIMALS published on a Rock & Roots Sampler released by Oasis earlier in the year. His song, IF I WERE A CAT, was featured on the OASIS ROCK & ROOTS - VOL. V, NUMBER 2 . The song has been picked up by several Internet radio stations and continues to get airplay today.
In the baby news department, RAILEY FRANCES WHITE celebrated her six month birthday on May 17. She gets smarter and prettier everyday so keep visiting us here to see the semi-daily photo updates for Railey. She seems to be really close to saying her first words and you visitors to this sight will surely be the first to know what she says. ALW predicts a three word sentence will be Railey's first cohesive sounds, not just a single word. He says he hopes Railey's first words are "I can read".
Other birthdays of note, happy birthday to LARRY BOWIE. Larry had another birthday on May 18 and said he is shooting for many more. We all know that when Larry starts shooting the only one to be shot will probably be Larry! We don't know exactly how old he is and at this point maybe it's not important anyway, but we do wish Larry a big birthday! ALW has been recording demos for his upcoming album at Larry's Atlanta studio over the past few months. Larry was a member of THE BACKALLEY BANDITS, a band that Larry co-fronted in the seventies, and that was signed to London Records. He was also a member of THE CANDY MEN in the late sixties. He has operated a studio in the heart of Atlanta for many years and continues to pump out music today. In recent weeks Larry has also become a published author. The book, FOSTER'S STORE, features a chapter written by Larry. The book has many contributors but was mainly authored by Larry's friend , Wayne Lankford.

Andy Lee White.com Reaches 15,000 Visitors Mark - April 21, 2006
On April 17
www.andyleewhite.com welcomed its 15,000th visitor to the web site. The site went online February 14, 2005 and has had a steady flow of visitors for the past 14 months.
April 17 also marked the five month birthday for ALW's daughter Railey Frances White. Keep track of Railey's days by looking at her folder under the PHOTOS page. Pictures are updated every few days and my, oh, my, does that child like the camera!
ALW's song IF I WERE A CAT has been added to the rotation of several Internet radio stations. The most unusual station giving the song regular air play is Cat Galaxy which broadcasts from Scottsdale, Arizona.
www.catgalaxymedia.com celebrated its fifth year on the air April 21. The station's format is actually aimed at cats and their human companions. You heard it right, it's for cats!
The station's owner Nohl Rosen has been very kind to the ALW camp by making many mentions about KUDZU ANIMALS on the air and in particular the air play he has given IF I WERE A CAT.
March 6th marks anniversary of KUDZU ANIMALS release - March 6, 2006
March 6th marked the one year anniversary of ANDY LEE WHITE'S CD release, KUDZU ANIMALS. The album was released via the Internet last year to brisk sales, especially on Amazon.com. ALW's first solo CD charted early on Amazon.com's Early Adopter Indie List landing at #53 after only ten days on the market. Three days later KUDZU ANIMALS jumped to #10 on the list and would eventually spend eight weeks in the Early Adopter Indie List's Top 20. The CD was listed in several other Amazon.com Top 20 lists due to its crossover blend of Country/Rock. On Amazon.com's Indie Country Top Seller List, KUDZU ANIMALS peaked at #4 after five weeks on the chart. On three other Indie Top Seller Lists (Rock, Alt-Country, General) the CD peaked at #7 and spent many weeks on those lists. The highest ranking for KUDZU ANIMALS came from the Indie New Releases List where the CD reached #3.
Although no tour plans were announced for the promotion of the album, sales remained constant throughout the year.
In February 2006 one of the tracks from KUDZU ANIMALS appeared on a CD Sampler released by Oasis CD Manufacturing. "If I Were A Cat" appeared on a double disc of roots rock music titled OASIS ROCK & ROOTS VOL. V NUMBER 2. The disc is distributed to music industry personnel and radio outlets throughout the world. Prior to the CD's release, ALW had already garnered air play on several U.S. Internet radio sites and air play from Belgium and the United Kingdom. The disc continues to get airplay and another track from KUDZU ANIMALS is planned to be included on yet another sampler CD to be released later this year.

Happy New Year 2006!!! - January 1, 2006
Can you believe it's 2006? We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. Did you folks see KUDZU ANIMALS producer and musician Scott Patton on ABC's New Year's Show with Sugarland last night? Scott played lead guitar for supergroup Sugarland on the two songs they performed and has been touring with the band all over the United States for the past year. Scott sounded good and looked even better as Sugarland entertained a huge crowd on New Year's Eve.
Photos of ALW's new baby girl, Railey Frances, continue to be added to the photo gallery. Check back often as photos are added every few days.
If you didn't get a copy of ALW's CD, KUDZU ANIMALS, in your stocking from Santa this year it's not to late! Order one for yourself and a friend and help ALW feed the new baby!
